Automotive

Fe has extensive automotive manufacturing facility experience as well as Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) supplier manufacturing facilities. Fe has selectively demolished certain manufacturing production lines, paint lines and other parts of the automotive manufacturing process. Also, Fe has complete structural demolition experience of manufacturing operations to repurpose sites for new uses.

Fe provided complete interior facility decommissioning, remediation of several “hots spot” soil contamination locations, and selectively demolished 200,000 square feet of manufacturing buildings of a former automotive battery manufacturing facility. Fe decontaminated the remaining portion of the site for future use. Also, a new rail spur was constructed onsite to support the heavier rail service anticipated by the new use site end use. Fe successfully managed Lead contamination, Acid and PCB containing materials throughout the project.

Fe also has select manufacturing system removal as part of re-tooling operations. Fe removed paint lines, booths and ovens on a tight schedule at truck manufacturing site, taking over the project when the previous contractor fell behind schedule and experienced multiple safety incidents. Fe was able to recoup the project schedule to meet the new paint system’s installation schedule, while increasing the safety performance at the site. Fe finished the project ahead of schedule without experiencing any safety incidents or injuries.

Health Care Industry

Fe has demolished numerous buildings in the health care industry.  These include hospitals, medical facilities and medical offices.  Most recently, Fe completed the demolition of a hospital including more than 225,000 sf, up to six stories high of medical care, surgical/clinical and laboratory, and office space.   Fe selectively salvaged façade of original 1905 era portion of the hospital for repurposing in new hotel being constructed on site.  More than 95% of all materials derived from demolition recycled.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing facilities often have hazardous materials, abatement that is also needed on-site.  Fe assigns an experienced team to work with our client, the project team, and any third-party involvement.  We evaluate all hazards and develop a solution to complete the project safely.

Fe recently decommissioned and demolished a former computer chip research & development and manufacturing facility. More than 500,000 sf of office, research laboratories and manufacturing space was demolished. Universal wastes and glycol systems were collected and drained from the systems prior to demolition. The entire facility was demolished on a tight schedule without safety incident or injury.

Fe completed the decontamination and demolition of a manufacturing facility contaminated with PCBs.  Demolition included the main manufacturing building, concrete slabs, and concrete chase ways, with segregation and transportation of both TSCA and non-TSCA-regulated material. Fe utilized an onsite wastewater treatment system to treat 220,000 gallons of PCB-impacted water.

Metals

Fe has experience with both mining sites and metals smelting, steel making and processing facilities. Fe understands the regulator frame work in dealing with MSHA and OHSA regulated sites. Also, Fe is familiar in dealing with typical metals site contaminants such as Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium and Lead. Fe also has experience dealing with acid mine run off as well as heavy metal contamination in soil and water.   Fe has the experienced personnel who are trained to work with these contaminants.

Fe is conscious of these contaminants and have safely completed metals/mining demolition and remediation projects including the demolition of smelters, silos, and buildings, steel mills, rolling mills, foundries and other metals processing facilities.  We also have experience performing remediation on mining sites such as soil excavation of contaminated soils and sediments, as well as capping contaminated soils in place.

Mining

Mining sites are often contaminated with runoff chemicals from the mine such as arsenic, cadmium and lead.  Fe has the experienced personnel who are trained to work with these contaminants.  The mining industry can affect the air, water, and land.  Fe is conscious of the contaminates and have safely completed mining demolition and remediation projects including the demolition of smelters, silos, and buildings.  We also have experience performing remediation on mining sites such as soil excavation of contaminated soils and sediments.

Petro/Chemical Processing

Demolishing and Decommissioning chemical plants is an industry we serve and have personnel with extensive experience in this area.  Fe has the expertise in collaborating with chemical clients in their complex and sensitive facilities.  Fe has decommissioned pressurized HF AST’s, demolished process units within active chemical plants, demolished entire facilities as part of RCRA closure of sites, and removed underground piping systems and remediated underlying soils. Fe ensures that any demolition project that we perform in such surroundings is conducted with the utmost respect for safety and the environment.
